MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Dog Teak is a large deciduous tree reaching up to the height of 10-20m with a straight bole. The leaves are broad, making the crown appear rounded. Flowers are yellow and numerous, borne in umbels along thick, leafless branches. The fruits are succulent and orange yellow in colour. The wood is hard, moderately heavy, even and some what coarse textured. The sapwood is pale red while the heartwood is a reddish grey with a purplish cast and occasionally with white line due to chalk deposites.
The Leaves, Bark and Fruits of the plant pacifies vitiated vata, kapha, anal fistula, wounds, diabetes, diabetic carbuncle, neuritis, pleurisy, pneumonia, and burning sensation.
