MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
An armed shrub or a small tree, up to 6 m in height with dense glabrous foliage and straight prickles on stems, blaze yellowish brown rapidly darkening on exposure; leaves compound, imparipinnate, rachis winged, often bering pink prickles, leaflets 5-11, lanceolate, more or less serrate, each serrature with a pellucid gland, glabrous, dark glossy green above, pale beneath, the terminal large than the laterals; flowers yellow or green in dense terminal or auxiliary panicles, polygamous; fruits reddish subglobose glabrous follicles; seeds solitary, globes, shining, black.
The bark and fruits of Tumpunal is used for kapha and vata stomachic, making liver tonic, leprosy, skin diseases, cough, asthma, paralysis, diabetes, wounds, ulcers, cardiac debility and general debility.
