MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Shrubs, 1–2 m high. Leaves simple, alternate, ovate–lanceolate or oblong, silky pubescent beneath, apex acute, base rounded. Flowers in auxiliary and terminal racemes. Pods oblong, mucronate, densely pubescent. Seeds 12, dark–brown or black.Flowering & Fruiting: August – April
A decoction or infusion of the leaves and the flowers is used in the treatment of tuberculosis, leaves is given as a bath after childbirth and is also used as a treatment for rheumatism, leaves are used both externally and internally as a vermifuge for children and induce sleep and to relieve pain.
